Overview

WPS uses ParentSquare as a communication tool used to issue district, school, and classroom posts and notifications, and for two-way communication between families and teachers. It manages email, text, and app-based communication, and has handy features such as conference scheduling, sign-up lists, and permission slips.

Action on your part is not required. If you do not set up a ParentSquare account for yourself, you will still receive email and phone notifications from Westborough Public Schools using the email addresses and phone numbers you provided during school registration, or via PowerSchool during the annual Contact Info review.

Accounts

There are benefits to setting up an account. We highly recommend that each parent/guardian set up an account. The social media style application provides a web-based portal and a mobile phone app. The user-friendly interface consolidates postings from our various schools and offices in one place, lets you configure your notification preferences, and provides two-way communication and language translation. You will be able to respond to classroom sign-ups and forms, view calendars and events, and communicate with your students’ teachers directly.

To sign into your existing account, or to create your account, go to https://www.parentsquare.com/signin.

To create an existing account, in the Register box, enter either the email address or phone number you have provided to WPS, and click Get Started. It will prompt you to create a password. Please create a secure password, and save it in a safe place.


 

Contact Info Updates

If you would like to update the phone number or email address used for ParentSquare notifications, please update them using the Contact Information screen in the PowerSchool Parent/Student portal. For more information about PowerSchool, see the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal page under Students & Families at westboroughk12.org. If the PowerSchool Parent/Student Portal is closed for the summer, please call your students' school front offices to update your Contact Information.

Staff-Student Communication

At WHS and Gibbons, teachers, club advisors, coaches, and other staff can also communicate directly with students via ParentSquare. This is often done via class, club, and athletic team groups, but can also be direct communication. Communication between staff and students is captured in ParentSquare and visible to administrators.

Does this give me direct access to student phone numbers?
No. WPS has not enabled students adding their phone numbers to their ParentSquare profiles. Students will not receive text messages, just app notifications.

What do students need to do?

Students don’t have to do anything to receive communications sent via ParentSquare. They will receive them via email, regardless of whether they’ve installed the app. If they choose to install the StudentSquare app to their phones, they will then be able to receive phone notifications when ParentSquare communications come in. The app also enables configuration of notification settings, language settings, review of communication history, and usage of extended features such as RSVPs/Sign-Ups, Forms, and the Calendar.  Search the App Store for "StudentSquare".

For those who prefer to not install the app to their phones, these things are also available via the ParentSquare portal at https://www.mystudentsquare.com/signin. The student logins are SSO, meaning login is direct when already logged into their westboroughk12.org accounts.  When they first attempt to sign-in, they will receive a confirmation code via email.
