Mission Statement

Kids do well if they can...

Kids do well if they can...

At our core, we believe that every student is trying their best, and when they face difficulties, it indicates an underlying obstacle that needs to be addressed. It is our duty to identify and understand these barriers so we can provide the necessary support and guidance.

This student-centered approach aligns with the Collaborative Problem Solving methodology developed by Drs. Ross Greene and Stuart Ablon (Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School). Their work emphasizes the importance of collaborative and empathetic problem-solving, recognizing that challenging behaviors stem from lagging skills. By adopting this philosophy, we aim to create a nurturing environment that fosters growth, resilience, and academic success for all students.

Additional supporting research:

  • Growth Mindset: Research by Carol Dweck has shown that when students believe their abilities can be developed, they are more likely to embrace challenges and persist in the face of setbacks, leading to better academic outcomes.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Studies have demonstrated that integrating SEL into education enhances students' abilities to manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
  • Trauma-Informed Practices: Understanding the impact of trauma on students' behavior and learning is essential. Trauma-informed approaches focus on creating safe, supportive environments that help students build resilience and overcome challenges.
