Dear Families,
June 1st always feels like a momentous calendar date. It means that summer vacation is just weeks away. I’d like to share a few updates about some recent and upcoming events in our schools:
This week is a busy one for the High School and especially for our seniors. Students’ achievements will be recognized at this evening’s Academic Awards Night. Seniors and their families will gather tomorrow evening to celebrate one of our favorite events, with the Baccalaureate ceremony. It is a night of memories, music and reflection. It is “the pause” before the end of the high school experience. Following that event there is a ‘Memory Lane’ walk out in the stadium where individual student posters are displayed. While it may be a bit rainy, everyone is welcome at this event. Our graduates have a depth of accomplishments to celebrate and strong opportunities before them in their future plans. The culmination of the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 3rd is always special and a bit uniquely individual because of each class and what makes them special. We’re hoping for good weather so this event can be held outdoors on the turf field!
The Elementary Schools have been busy as well, sharing their performances of “Goin’ Buggy”, “Strega Nona”, and “Queen of Tarts” just to name a few. Mill Pond and Middle School students have also had a lot happening this Spring, including their end-of-the-year Band, Choral, and Orchestra concerts, dances, and “Moving Up” events. There have been a lot of successes in the Athletics Department as well, with many teams advancing to MIAA Tournament Play this season. The district is always humming with activity and our students are at the center of many meaningful culminating activities and events.
