Dear Westborough Community,
As we head into this upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude for the opportunity to serve this Westborough community. Having lived in Westborough for over 25 years, I continue to enjoy what I believe to be its unique focus on service and building a more caring and kind community. While we can all get fatigued by the stresses and strains of daily life, I am renewed by the surprises that I experience from our students, our colleagues, and the community at large. This past week was just a snapshot of why people choose Westborough as the place where they work and live.
On Friday, our Westborough High School and our larger community of families and fans were honored at Gillette Stadium with an MIAA School Districts recognition. For the last 26 years, each of the 9 districts has nominated and honored the MIAA Sportsmanship Award recipient. This year, Westborough was the winner from District E, and we were nominated and selected from our peers in the district and honored by a final vote of the MIAA Board. At a time when the Boston Globe is reporting on the negative energy of teams and fans impacting the ability to sustain a strong referee contingency, it is an honor that Westborough remains a place where sportsmanship and a welcoming sports experience can be expected at all of our events. It remains a highlight of my job to attend sports events and see the fun and excitement of quality high school sports, alive and well!
