The Westborough High School athletic facilities play a vital role in the health, recreation, and enjoyment of the entire Westborough community - school athletic programs, town programs, school and community events and general public use.

A renovation project for the high school athletic complex was approved at the October 2017 Town Meeting.   It is now time to fund the project, and we are asking for your support.  The Town has committed monies to the project, but a portion still needs to be raised. We are counting on your participation in the fundraising campaign to make this a reality.

The cost of the project is estimated at $4 million with a start in June 2018. The project includes:

  • resurfacing of the track
  • replacing the existing stadium field with alternative fill turf
  • ADA compliant closed style bleacher seating
  • a new press box and storage shed
  • landscaping
  • restoring the Upper Hayes Field with a new alternative fill turf field and bleachers
  • field lighting

The fundraising commitment for this project is $500,000 to be raised through private and corporate donors.  Reaching this goal by May 2018 is necessary to complete the project by fall 2018 and to prevent disruption to school athletics and community track and field use.

The 2016-2017 athletic accomplishments at the high school were impressive with 15 teams into post-season play, 2 Divisional titles, and 3 State Championship appearances.  More importantly, we continue to have a very high athletic participation rate for a town our size.  There are:

  • 60 teams at the high school and 9 teams at Gibbons Middle School
  • 2,000 high school roster spots for players
  • ·over 500 families with at least one athlete in our high school programs
  • the class of 2017 had a half dozen students going on to play collegiate athletics

These athletes would not have had such success without the support of the Town, and we are asking for your support once more for a project that would benefit a large portion of our community.

Please visit www.whsrangersontrack.org for more information.  Donations can be made online or checks can be made payable to Rangers on Track and mailed to Rangers on Track, 45 West Main Street, Westborough, MA 01581.  You can increase your impact with a matching gift.

Your donation is very much appreciated.  On behalf of the students and the Westborough community who will benefit from this renovation, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
